About Gerry Boughan

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Following formal training in which I received a B.F.A. Degree in Theatrical Production, I began my professional career at the Kennebunkport Playhouse in Kennebunkport, ME. followed by study and work in New York City at the acclaimed Circle in the Square Theatre under Ted Mann and Paul Libin. Following those stints, I went on to develop a knowledge of the theatrical business as Business Manager for Stage/West Theatre Company in Springfield, MA. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE After training and work in New York, I returned to study for my Master of Fine Arts Degree at the School for the Performing Visual Arts, at United States International University. As a Graduate Design Fellow at the School, I provided scenic design for selected student and professional productions. During the summer seasons I served as Production Manager for musical theatre production, Summer Musicals At The Zoo, in San Diego, CA. Following my Master of Fine Arts program, I served as Production Manager for The Center for the Performing Arts where I supervised all professional and student productions of theatre, music and dance divisions. INTERNATIONAL EVENT PRODUCTION As Director of Entertainment for Expo ‘74, World’s Fair, an international exposition, I supervised production of 184 continuous days of headliner, revenue-producing entertainment, on-site attractions, national exhibitor celebrations. Working with the various national exhibitors gave me an introduction to theatrical event development and production on an international basis. Since the World’s Fair Expo ’74 I have worked on cultural events such as the U.S. Forest Services’ touring production for the United States Bicentennial which toured the national parks throughout the United States. CURRENT INTERESTS Cultural tourism events and theatrical entertainment of unique and international nature have been my primary interest as I have conceived, development, and produced events over the world in the past years.
