About Gershwin Knozer

I am a motivated education professional with a diverse skill set and a strong background in teacher development, e-learning, and instructional design. I bring excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, and thrive in high-pressure environments where initiative, creativity, and goal orientation are key. As of 1 May 2025, I have been permanently appointed as the Senior Education Specialist: Programme Design and Development at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI). Prior to this, I served as an E-Learning Advisor at Metro East Education District (MEED) for four months, and from November 2023 to December 2024, I was seconded to CTLI in the same SES: PDD role. At CTLI, I lead or collaborate on the design, development, and coordination of professional development programmes for teachers and school leaders. My responsibilities include the creation and enhancement of digital and print-based learning materials, project and process management, research, advocacy, procurement, data analysis, and managing CTLI’s social media presence. Previously, I held the position of Departmental Head (DH) at Vista Nova School, overseeing the Senior Phase. I also served as Acting DH for a combined total of two and a half years. With over 11 years of teaching experience in the Senior/FET phase, including 10 years working with learners with special educational needs, I bring a learner-centred approach grounded in inclusive and innovative practices. I hold two qualifications from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, as well as an Advanced Certificate in Computer Integrated Education from the University of Pretoria. I have facilitated ICT integration courses for teachers, mentored educators in digital pedagogy, and worked as a visual designer and facilitator for the CTLI's Leadership Academy and ICT Integration Unit. In 2023, I also supported the WCED Metro Central District as an e-Learning trainer. My broader experience includes school sport coordination, administration, and marketing. I served as treasurer for the WP Primary Schools Rugby Referee Association and have been a member of the WP Rugby Referee Society for over a decade. As of January 2025, I serve as a Regional Rugby Referee Coach and Match Reviewer for the society. I am fluent in English and Afrikaans, and proficient in Apple iOS, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Moodle, Adobe Suite, Canva, and Photoshop. I also have web design experience, having built a photography site using Wix.
