About Gert Funke

Despite the German name, I was born in Rio de Janeiro, where I founded my own company in 1993, a software house focused on developing rich media and web-based applications, shortly after leaving my first real job, in the DC of a metallurgical company, that was part of a very large holding, where I successfully implemented an ERP, fully developed at the headquarters, for sales orders management, factory plant production planning & controlling, stock management and goods dispatch logistics (picking, handling, packing and shipping), invoicing, accounts payable / receivable, tax and duty management, cash flow management and accounting, as well as HR payroll. I was also responsible for managing the P&L and all the daily administration / operation / maintenance of all ICT platforms (servers, networking, applications and databases), as well. After setting up my own company, I decided to sell all my shares and move to Portugal at the end of 1998, which has opened up the opportunity for me to consistently demonstrate my ability to navigate complex sales scenarios and deliver results, through 26 years of accumulated and extensive experience in Portugal, which includes key roles in notable companies such as Sun Microsystems (now ORACLE), Cisco Systems Europe (with an international role) and IBM, as well as in a few local companies with dominant position in theirs specialized sectors of the Portuguese ICT market. My in-depth knowledge of market dynamics has positioned me as an experienced leader in driving business success and cultivating customer relationships. My academic background (Mathematics & IT) have equipped me with a solid foundation to excel in this fast-paced industry. I am skilled in Sales Management, Strategic Planning, Customer Relationship Management and Market Analysis. I have been recognized by peers for my expertise in IT disaster recovery, business continuity plans, data protection & storage solutions, unified communications, virtualization, cloud computing, data center technologies and pre-sales support. I am truly committed to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of the ever-evolving technology trends. I also have plans to expand my knowledge and skills in areas such as AI to better serve customers and contribute to their growth, by leveraging all my experience to help companies achieve their goals. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, photography, watching movies and spending time with my family. I am also a sports enthusiast and love going to the gym, swimming at breathtaking beaches in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
