Gert is a seasoned advisory professional with over nine years' experience, specializing in M&A transactions. He has extensive expertise in buy- and sell-side due diligence, valuations, independent expert engagements, and financial modeling, analysis, and forecasting. His deal experience spans multiple regions, including the US, UK, and Canada, and covers a diverse range of industries such as private equity, professional services, oil & gas, mining, and TMT. Prior to joining Deloitte Canada, Gert was part of the South African BDO Corporate Finance team that achieved a first place ranking in the Mergers & Acquisitions category for both deal flow and deal value; having advised on 23 transactions worth $2.7 billion. This recognition came at the 2019 annual Dealmakers Gala Awards. Gert is a CPA accredited in Canada, and also holds a Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) designation from the Corporate Finance Institute in Vancouver, Canada. Before transitioning to M&A, he spent three years in the auditing sector, where his strong auditing and managerial skills earned him early sign-off as a chartered accountant in 2018.
