About Gert Zimmer

Today I manage a portfolio of investments, invest into start-ups, consult start-ups and established companies in the areas of strategy, communication & digital transformation. All of this is bundled under the roof of SwanAlley Consulting & Investment. At the same time I am a member of various boards. Prior to this I studied telecommunications and served as a Program Director for Radio Charivari Nuremberg from 1986 to 1988. In 1989 I joined the BCI Group for some entrepreneurial activity with a broader and more international range of tasks, where I became CEO and Co-Owner in 1993. Over the years BCI Group developed from a pure German trading company to a broad-based international service provider in the media and communications sector. Besides managing the company I was actively involved in consulting projects and major music productions. As of 2004 I joined the Bertelsmann family as a Senior Vice President Radio Central and Northern Europe, RTL Group and CEO of RTL Radio Germany. Managing the German radio portfolio of RTL Group and coordinating the cooperation of its international radio holdings was a challenging and fun task. Responsibilities ranged from Portfolio Management, HR, Finance, M&A, Law, Political Lobbying, Sales, Programming and Marketing to Digital Transformation. In 2018, after 32 exiting professional years, I decided to break for a one-year sabbatical, to recharge my batteries, travel, meet new people, learn more about a healthy life style & nutrition and broaden my knowledge in the area of digital transformation, before assuming new responsibilities. At the beginning of 2019, I started my own business, SwanAlley Consulting & Investment.
