About Ghaleb Husseini

Dr. Ghaleb A. Husseini graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering emphasis) from Brigham Young University in 2001. He joined the American University of Sharjah as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering in January 2004 and was promoted to associate professor and professor in 2008 and 2013, respectively. Dr. Husseini spent a sabbatical at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) working in Dr. Jeffrey Hubbell's laboratory.Dr. Husseini works in the area of ultrasound-activated drug delivery. His other areas of interest include non-viral gene delivery, ultrasonic bone healing, surface modification, biomass analysis, tissue culture, microbial desalination cells, and engineering education. Dr. Husseini has published 160 journal articles, five book chapters, 3 US patents, over 100 conference papers/abstracts, and has given 30 keynote/invited lectures. In addition, he is currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Transactions on Nanobioscience and the Editorial Board of the International Review of Applied Sciences and Engineering (IRASE). He served on the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Nanomedicine (EUJNM)(2016-2018). He was elected into the Distinguished Lecturer Program (January 2014-December 2015). His project entitled "Nanocarriers and Ultrasound in Cancer Treatment" was highly commended as the Institute of Chemical Engineers (ICHEME) Research Project of the Year - ICHEME Global Awards 2016. Dr. Husseini won the Technology Innovation Pioneer (TIP) Healthcare Award in 2018. He was awarded the AUS College of Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award in 2014 and the Excellence in Research Award in 2016. Ghaleb is a member of the Mohammed bin Rashed Academy of Scientists in the United Arab Emirates.
