About Ghislain Lessard

Ghislain Lessard graduated from École Polytechnique de Montréal and obtained his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981, under the supervision of Dr. James K. Mitchell. He completed his education with a diploma in computer science from Concordia University and Masters degree courses in computer science at the Université de Montréal. From 1977 to 1984, Ghislain was project engineer at the CNFS and the SEBJ, where he developed a management system for instrumentation data of the LG3, LG4 and Caniapiscau reservoirs. From 1985 to 1994, Ghislain participated in all phases of the CASTOR project dedicated to the development of software for the design of hydroelectric complexes. Ghislain is president of Sobek Technologies Inc. since its creation in 1994. He combines his expertise in computer science and geotechnical engineering to design and develop the Geotec software, used for geotechnical exploration as well as design and construction phases of earth and rockfill dams. Ghislain is a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec and of the Société canadienne de géotechnique.
