About Giada Lavigna

I'm currently following different projects in which I am using in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro models to test several compounds with anti-aggregating and anti-prionic properties, and I am having the opportunity to use a wide range of molecular and cellular skills. I have done many hours of work in vivo, and I have gained a great ability working with wild type and transgenic mice; I can work with ex vivo models (Cerebellar Organotypic Culture Slices can be infected with prion strains, kept in incubation for several weeks, and then used to test compounds with anti-prionic properties); I use in vitro techniques to analyse the anti-prionic properties of compounds on cell lines, and I am acquiring some ability in working with microscopes (Confocal and Virtual Slide).
