About Gilbert Winfield
I have been working with wine for more than 20 years. I spent seven years in France working for Steven Spurrier's emporium in Paris, then a year in Italy making wine at a producer in Chianti, Castello di Uzzano. I have also worked briefly at Delaire Winery in South Africa. I hold the Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, for whom I am a Certified Educator. I am a member of the Association of Wine Educators, and the Circle of Wine Writers, and I judge at the International Wine Challenge. I have had many roles in retail and wholesale in England, France, and Italy, and throughout this I have managed to maintain a strong and eccentric sense of humour. This is never more evident than when I present a tasting for a group of interested amateurs. I write occasional articles for Decanter, Harpers, The Drinks Business, and the AWE and CWW newsletters. Many of them don't pay, but hey, it's great to see your name in print; we're not in this for the money, after all, are we?
