About Giles Deshon

I help insurers resolve their complex and challenging claims by promoting settlement options while simultaneously preparing for trial. My areas of practice include bodily injury including mild traumatic brain injury litigation, insurance, defamation and government claims. I combine an ability to accurately assess files and potential damages with powerful advocacy skills. The plaintiffs I face receive clear and detailed communication about the defence they must confront which often provides strong incentive for early settlement. The insurers I represent value my ability to present them with a well-thought through analysis of each claim and the potential quantum at risk. My background is in commercial and contractual litigation in Australia, England and Canada. I practiced law in Queensland, New South Wales and England prior to being called in Ontario and British Columbia. I have conducted jury trials in the Superior Courts of British Columbia and Ontario. I have also performed judge alone trials in the Supreme Court and Provincial Court of British Columbia and the Superior Court and Small Claims Court of Ontario. I have appeared in numerous applications in superior courts in British Columbia and Ontario.
