About Gill German

As VP of Commercial Recycling at TerraCycle, I lead all aspects of this business unit – from vision-setting and team management to operations and budgeting – to drive significant growth. Our core mission is to empower businesses to divert hard-to-recycle waste from landfills, helping them achieve critical sustainability goals and ensure compliance through the responsible recycling of regulated and universal waste. My focus is on setting and implementing effective strategies to scale these vital solutions for a circular economy. My career journey uniquely blends hands-on Industrial Design (BID, Carleton University) with robust CPG Brand Management (MBA, Schulich School of Business), honed at General Mills where I managed and grew key product portfolios. This background gives me a distinct advantage in approaching business and sustainability: I understand both the creative problem-solving needed to design new solutions to meet customer needs and drive business growth as well as the commercial realities of bringing them to market and scaling. In my previous role as Global Senior Director Brand Partnerships at Loop, I launched and operated reusable packaging platforms with retailers in ecommerce and retail store settings. My responsibilities included leading account management, marketing & customer service, insights & analytics, retail management, and ultimately full commercial leadership in the North American region. When I shifted to lead M&A integration at TerraCycle, I was tasked with integrating 3 acquisitions with another internal team to create a newly formed business unit dedicated to serving commercial and industrial customers’ recycling needs. In my current role, we are continuing to build infrastructure and resources to support this newly formed group and see tremendous opportunities to benefit from greater geographic reach, capabilities and strengths. I'm passionate about making real change through practical innovation and sustainable business practices that work with, not against the P&L. I’m always seeking new connections and looking for new opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to TerraCycle's vision and culture.
