About Gillian Wylde

Gillian Wylde is an artist and researcher. She is senior lecturer in Fine Art at Falmouth University. Central to Gillian’s practice is a critical engagement with contemporary art practices and critical theory with particular reference to technologies, writing, queerness, philosophy and popular culture. Works comment on some of the social and political implications of new technology and practices, often challenging traditional ideas of the art object and means of production or productivity. Processes of appropriation and post-production are constants through most of the work, like perhaps a wild smell or hairy logic. Work has been shown nationally and internationally including: ICA London, Transmodern Live Art Action Festival, Baltimore; Videotage, Hong Kong; Alytus Biennial, Lithuania, and Tao Scene, Norway. Recent work has been shown at: John Hansard Gallery (2019), The Laboratory for Aesthetics and Ecology, Linnæus University and Växjö Konsthall (2019) Journal of Writing in Creative Practice published by Intellect Books (2018) British Film Institute (2018), Glasgow Film Festival (2017), Arnolfini Gallery Bristol (2016), and ISEA2016 Hong Kong (2016).
