Proudly BAMA, born and raised in Cairns, QLD, I have deep roots in the Gunggandji, Wulgurukaba, Western Yalanji, and Girramay Nations, as well as the Meriam (Erub) and Guda Maluilgul Malu Kawai (Dhoeybaw) Nations of Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait) and Papua New Guinea. My culture isn’t just where I come from—it’s who I am. I stepped into Indigenous media at 16 and never looked back. From broadcaster to station manager, I’ve worked across the industry, from grassroots radio to engaging with peak media bodies and the Federal Government, always pushing for media that truly serves our people. For me, media isn’t just a platform—it’s a lifeline. It keeps our languages strong, our stories thriving, and ensures our voices are heard, loud and clear. Australia has a dark history, and we can’t move forward without first facing it. True recognition and respect for the sovereignty of First Peoples isn’t about division—it’s about truth, healing, and a stronger future for everyone. The past can’t be changed, but by acknowledging it, we can shape a future built on justice, respect, and unity.
