Conservation Advocacy - experience organizing and managing grassroots action groups for land and water issues. Instrumental in establishment of Neches River National Wildlife Refuge (June 2006) and introduction of Neches River National Wild and Scenic Study bill S. 2324 by U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (2012). Work has been featured in numerous newspaper and magazine articles, including Texas Monthly (September 2006) and Guideposts (April 2007). Experience in testifying at city, county, regional, and state hearings and lobbying city, county, state, and federal officials. Non-profit Management – experience managing day-to-day operations of an internationally known conservation organization, including sanctuary management (3,400 acres). Personnel management and training; budget, policy, and strategic plan development; land acquisition and habitat restoration; volunteer development and management; cultivator of local, state, and federal agency, corporate, and non-profit partnerships; meeting facilitator. Fundraising and event planning includes galas, year-end and special project appeals, donor development, grant writing and management. Communications and Public Relations – experience interacting with the media and public - speaking engagements, television appearances, radio interviews, press conferences, magazine and newspaper articles. Featured in Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Texas the State of Water – Finding a Balance documentary (2005). Cultivate relationships with media personnel. Develop brochures, DVDs, press releases, and other print media for advocacy issues.
