About Gina Iosim
Gina Iosim obtained a BA in Political Science and History in 2002 from Rutgers University. She attended Rutgers Law School and obtained a Juris Doctorate in 2006. She completed a clerkship for Hon. Thomas R. Vena, J.S.C. In 2006 she was sworn in as an Assistant Prosecutor at Essex County Prosecutor’s Office where she was assigned to the Pre-Indictment Unit before being moved to the Trial Team where she handled a high volume of cases from inception through Grand Jury, plea disposition and trial on a broad range of charges including Narcotics, Theft, Assault, Robbery and Homicide. Ms. Iosim was assigned to and subsequently supervisor of the Special Victims Unit where she handled the investigation and prosecution of sexual offenses, child abuse, elder abuse, bias crimes, cyber sexual crimes and human trafficking. She is a certified forensic video interview specialist, a police academy instructor and has lectured extensively. She has served on the NJ Child Fatality & Near Fatality Metropolitan Review Team and the Suicide Subcommittee, SAVE Prevention Coalition and New Jersey Children’s Alliance Policy Committee. In 2017 she was awarded the MDT & CAC Excellence Award for outstanding contributions in the field of Child Abuse. In 2018 Ms. Iosim joined Union County Prosecutor’s Office as a trial attorney serving a dual assignment in Trials, Plea Disposition Court and Central Judicial Processing. In 2019 she was put in charge of the Plea Disposition Court and acted as the liaison between the courts, defense counsel and UCPO. In 2021 she received a commendation for her work during the COVID 19 crisis. Ms. Iosim was named Deputy Director and then Director of Union County Prosecutor’s Office’s Community Prosecution Division overseeing the Pre Indictment Unit including Screening, First Appearance and Detention Courts, PDC. The Diversion Unit includes PTI, Recovery Court, Jail Division Program, Veteran’s Diversion Program, KROL & Competency, and the Community Response Unit which includes Community Engagement, Firearms Safety and Alternative Responses such as Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) for which Ms Iosim is a co-coordinator, Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) and Union County’s Alternative Responses to Reduce Instances of Violence & Escalation (ARRIVE), for which Ms Iosim is the Program Director. Ms. Iosim coordinates the Union County Mental Health & Special Needs Working Group, is a member of the State Working Group, and is co chair of the Union County Behavioral Health Advisory Board. She a certified in Mental First Aid and is a MHFA instructor.
