About Gina Monahan

I am a life long lover and creator of art, and am eager to further my career in the art administration and museum studies field. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History, with a minor in Anthropology. During my senior year I won an award for undergraduate research in Art History for a paper I wrote about the socio-economic symbolism of jewelry in Renaissance Italy. I co-wrote an anthropological article with a professor about religion, faith, and spirituality among youth in the US that is currently published in the Bloomsbury Education and Childhood Studies database. During this time I also interned with my university's art center and helped to curate an art exhibition called "Portraits of Camden". During this internship I interviewed artists, drafted artist statements and biographies for the exhibition catalog, and participated in choosing the artwork that would be in the show. This internship continued into the summer of 2022. I am currently employed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art as a Visitor Services Assistant. My responsibilities include selling tickets and memberships, wayfinding, and answering visitor questions about the art and the museum. I am also a graduate student at Drexel University majoring in Arts Administration and Museum Leadership. I formerly worked for Ellis Antiques, an antique shop in Collingswood, New Jersey. My main responsibilities included researching, cataloging, photographing, and listing antique and vintage items for our online sales platforms. These platforms included Ebay, Etsy, Facebook, Instagram, and BigCommerce. Additionally, I managed our brick-and-mortar shop. Other responsibilities included customer service, retail, cleaning, delegating tasks to employees, and shop maintenance. I am also a published concert photographer. I am published in several online and print media publications. I regularly work with bands and their management in order to provide unique and vibrant live show reviews and professional photo galleries. I have worked with several GRAMMY award winning and nominated artists as well as smaller local artists. I also am a senior co-editor for a music magazine called Manor 208.
