About Gina Pollack

I'm a freelance multimedia producer, journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles. I tell stories about the intersection of culture, history and identity through audio, video and writing and have created long-form serialized video and audio projects for outlets like the New York Times, PBS, the LA Times, Vox, The Verge, the Washington Post and KCRW, among others. My short documentary “Undue Burden," which told the stories of women in a New Orleans abortion clinic waiting room, was a New York Times Op Doc and screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. I produced the short film "Jewel's Hunt," about a teen moose hunter in Alaska in 2019, which was supported by ITVS and If/Then Shorts and screened on PBS through Independent Lens. In 2020, I received an Emmy for a 25 minute episode of a news magazine show where we spent 24 hours embedded with the firefighters that provide emergency services to the people on Skid Row. I'm a graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where I focused on documentary radio and film, and NYU's Gallatin School where I got to hang out with other people like me who have too many interests to decide on one major.
