I am Chief Counsel, Employment and Labor at Thomson Reuters. I am an experienced employment attorney and litigator who leads the Employment and Labor Group in the General Counsel's Office. Our team advises human resources professionals and management on employment and labor-related issues globally and recommends commercial and practical business solutions. We collaborate across cross functional teams. I provide legal advice and counsel across all customer segments on a variety of employment matters, including leave/accommodation, non-compete/non-solicitation agreements, wage and hour/FLSA/misclassification, independent contractors, background checks, pay equity, inclusion and belonging, policy review and development, workplace investigations (fraud, compliance and employee relations), workplace violence including threat of harm to self and others, workplace health and safety, health and welfare, defined contribution/defined benefit plans, short and long term incentive compensation plans, employee-related internal and external communications, customer contracts issues impacting employees, performance management, discipline, reductions in force, severance and terminations. I also counsel on employment aspects of acquisitions, divestitures and outsourcings. In addition, I oversee employment litigation in U.S. federal and state courts (including class/collective actions) and advise on litigation outside the U.S. including work on discovery, discovery disputes, mediation, motions to dismiss, summary judgment, settlement, trials, appeals and legal holds, and I manage litigation budgets. This includes responding to threatened litigation/lawyers’ letters and EEOC/state agency charges. I also prepare employment agreements and offer letters, as well as other employment-related agreements and conduct management and HR trainings.
