About Ginger Bragg

I was sixteen years old when I was hired at McDonalds. I learned a great deal about how to respond to unhappy customers and the value of hard work. I will always be grateful for that experience. I left McDonalds at 18 years old. That was when my nursing career started. I moved to Texas and attended McClennan Community College in Waco, TX. In 1982, I graduated as a Graduate Vocational Nurse. I was offered a job at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital in Waco, TX. My first nursing job was on a Gynecological surgical floor. I loved my female patients. Instructors would tell us all of the time that the majority of what we learned would be after graduation and that is scary but true. I was fortunate to work with really good nurses who took me under their wing and taught me how to be a nurse. I mastered many skills, IV insertion, IV fluids administration, IV pushes, Piggy backs, IM injections, NG tubes, Foley Catheters and medication administration. I also mastered assessment skills, wound changes, emergency situations, code blues, etc. I have never lost these skills. Some of them are no longer in use but I have kept up with my clinical knowledge. More to follow.
