About Ginni Orr

I have skills and knowledge of digital technologies, pedagogy, and assessment. I want to facilitate other people’s ability to design effective e-learning activities and courses using these skills. I have considerable experience as a teacher and leader, and over the past seven years, my competence and innovative use of digital technologies for learning has grown exponentially. I have a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Otago and a Diploma of Teaching (secondary) from the University of Canterbury. Twenty years on, I am privileged to have had the opportunity to study again and have completed a Masters of Education endorsed in e-learning and educational leadership (first-class honours) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Digital technologies). It has been good to put myself in the shoes of a learner again and appreciate how to work alongside people to encourage them to take risks. I like to work as part of a team and I relate easily to people of differing backgrounds and ethnicities and build positive respectful relationships. I pride myself in my ability to communicate in a calm manner and clearly convey messages to individuals and groups. My skill set includes: • working alongside people, mentoring and coaching them, and empowering them to do new things • designing digital learning programmes and assessment • effective leadership, including professional development in digital technologies for my colleagues • planning effective professional development following the principles of adult learning theory • creating learning videos on YouTube and SharePoint websites. I enjoy taking on new challenges and meeting and exceeding expectations. Outside of work, my interests are many and varied, from mountain biking and endurance sea swimming in the summer months to geocaching, photography, and creating art during the rest of the year. I enjoy these activities for the challenges they bring and that they are completely different from my day-time employment.
