About Giovanni Barbara

With over 26 years of experience in the offshore survey industry, I have been actively involved in a wide range of hydrographic and construction projects worldwide. My work has spanned various water depths, from shallow to deep waters, where I have developed expertise in positioning, data acquisition, and quality control across diverse and often challenging operational environments. Over the past years, since joining the Jan De Nul Survey team, I have also gained extensive experience in the installation and configuration of various survey equipment, including DGPS systems, gyros, inertial navigation systems (INS), motion sensors, RTS multiplexers, Kongsberg and Sonardyne USBL systems, MBES, and related ancillary equipment. Additionally, I have become increasingly involved in power cable installation projects, including cable laying, rock dumping for stabilization, trenching, and post-trenching surveys. My experience also includes working with cable tracking systems such as Innovatum, TSS 440, and TSS 340. As Party Chief, I have been responsible for both data and people management, overseeing project execution, ensuring efficient operation, and maintaining high-quality data standards.
