About Gisella Freire

Gender Studies and Law specialist with a strong interdisciplinary background and over seven years of professional experience across diplomacy, recovery services, and advocacy. Holding a Master’s in Gender Studies & Law from SOAS University of London with a Distinction-awarded dissertation titled “Decolonising Peace Tales: Peace, Women, and Security”, I bring academic depth and field-tested insight into gender theory, legal frameworks, and peacebuilding. My work spans international relations and consular support at the British Consulate-General in Rio and the U.S. Consulate in São Paulo, to frontline support roles in recovery-focused organisations in the UK. Currently, I serve as a Peer Mentor at Adferiad Recovery, where I was honoured with the “Making the Biggest Difference” award in 2025. Adept in trauma-informed care, cross-cultural communication, and community empowerment, I am committed to fostering inclusive, rights-based environments and transforming complex systems with evidence-based practice.
