About Giulia Petito

I am graduated in languages and IT and I have developed my knowledge working in the field of translation technologies, linguistics, terminology, revision and proofreading. I have been working at the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union (CdT) as a translation support specialist providing technical support to translators and performing the pre and post processing of documents in different formats (docx, xml, html, idml, xslx, pptx, etc.) I worked as terminologist at FAO for over a year. I took care of different tasks in the Language Support Group, which included the revision of documents and translations, proofreading of terminology records and support to translators and users on terminology related queries. I have been collaborating with the Harper Collins Publishers and the Oxford University Press as a language specialist and proofreader. I have worked on the proofreading of an English grammar book for Italian students and an Italian phrasebook for English native people. Furthermore, I have worked on a project of selection of Italian neologisms for updating a pocket dictionary and on a revision of Italian translation for the Collins Dictionary web site. Through these experiences, I developed excellent communication abilities, along with very good adaptability in multicultural environments. I have learned to cooperate and work as a team member, and they have enabled me to acquire excellent planning and organisational skills, with a good ability to manage deadlines, as well as developing my technical skills. I would like to expand my knowledge and experience within International Organizations, Agencies, Bodies, etc. and work for linguistic or communication projects strengthening my skills and developing new ones.
