About Giulia Scapin

I am currently finishing my PhD at the VU Amsterdam, a joint degree with the University of Haifa, as part of the European network of Empirical Studies of Literature (ELIT). I used to work for the Editorial Section at Edizioni Centro Studi Erickson, selecting and evaluating manuscripts, managing and creating content for e-learning platforms for education professionals (teachers and principals), and developing tools to improve the use of new technologies in schools. I took a Post-graduate degree in "Technology for Education: Devices and Disability" at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from Trento University. I have collected some practical experiences in the research field, both during my Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Psychology and during my Master's apprenticeship in Social and Affective Neuroscience, as well as during my experience at Nagasaki University in Japan. There, I joined a project on cross-cultural differences in attachment and relationships. I am interested in noninvasive methods of diagnosis and therapy, particularly concerning developmental disease, sound analysis, especially infant cry, and its utility in early diagnosis and evaluation. Recently, I have been attracted by the application of research methodologies to develop alternative ways to reduce the stigmatization of vulnerable populations, particularly through the use of narratives.
