About Giulia Sonetti

Hello, I’m Giulia. I’m an Italian-born engineer turned transdisciplinary researcher, someone who has slowly migrated from buildings and energy systems to the inner landscapes of human experience. After two MScs and a PhD wandering through architecture, renewable energy and environmental sciences, I now work as an MSCA–Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at ISGlobal in Barcelona, where my project Cycling to Care explores how our relationship with nature, emotional well-being and climate anxiety shape the way we engage with a changing planet. My work sits at the crossroads of mental health, sustainability education, ecologies of care and human–nature relationships. I study how young people feel the future, how communities imagine transformation, and how we can create safe, hopeful spaces for learning in times of uncertainty. Alongside my academic journey —from Torino to Cambridge, Hokkaido or Gothenburg— I’ve also been a co-creator and facilitator in many EU-funded projects, bridging universities, NGOs, social movements and public institutions. What moves me, above all, is helping people reconnect: with themselves, with others, and with the more-than-human world that holds us.
