About Giulio Bottari

As a Master Researcher at Ericsson Research, I am a core member of a world-renowned team pioneering research and developing prototypes for next-generation networks and AI techniques for 5G and 6G, collaborating closely with leading industry partners, operators, and international academic institutions. Over the past decade, I have filed 75+ industrial patents—many co-developed with academic leaders—spanning cellular networks, packet-optical transport, orchestration platforms, synchronization systems, artificial intelligence, and vertical applications (including robotics). As Innovation Manager for the H2020 5G-TRANSFORMER project and a key contributor to multiple Horizon Europe projects and Next Generation EU initiatives, I have supported the translation of 5G/6G potential into impactful applications for industry and society. I am widely published in journals (1,250+ citations, h-index 18), a frequent speaker at premier global events (Mobile World Congress, Nobel Prize Dialogue, OFC, ECOC, ICC, Hannover Messe, and more), and serve as a reviewer for journals of the Optical Society. I have also contributed as an author to leading industry web magazines to promote innovation and foster wider understanding of emerging technologies. For five years, I represented Ericsson at ITU-T, shaping standards for optical and photonic transport networks.
