About Giuseppe Ciulla

Giuseppe Ciulla is a researcher at Engineering Ingegneria Informatica SpA. He got his Master Degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Palermo in April 2006. After the first experience at CNR – Italian National Research Council, he started to work at Engineering R&D Laboratory in 2009. In Engineering, he participated in several Italian and European research projects concerning innovations for the public sector, smart cities, urban mobility and interoperability. In this context, he carried out different activities ranging from software design and development to technical coordination, and project coordination. From 8th March 2012 to 1st October 2015 he has been involved in the start-up of ESTRO (Engineering Society and Territory Research Office) laboratory in Trento (IT) for the development of innovative models in the context of the international network of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Currently, he is involved in the following Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects. URBANAGE: he coordinates the work package for the design and implementation of Data Management and Big Data Analytics of Local Digital Twins for urban planning. URBANITE: he coordinates the work package for the definition and implementation of four use cases in the field of urban mobility management Road-STEAMer: he coordinated the task for the design and implementation of a web-based co-creation platform. Pre-PAI: he coordinates the task for the design of the interoperability layer of the future European AI-on-demand platform. TAILOR: he contributes to the identification of challenges related to the introduction of AI-based solutions in the Public Sector and in the definition of the Strategic Research and Innovation Roadmap (SRIR) to steer and boost European research on Trustworthy AI.
