I have worked within this industry since 1993 and held various roles at several companies installing and maintaining the specialist systems to enable vulnerable, elderly or disabled people to remain within their own homes but be just a call away from the help or reassurance they need. My journey started as a Service Engineer and moved onto other roles including Project Management for our Installations department and Field service management. As a Commercial Manager I had been responsible for the system design, project support, service contracts and small works teams. Including business development and ongoing improvement planning as well as the pricing of our service offerings to our customers. Managing BAFE accreditation for Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (the Design, Installation, Commissioning/Handover elements) and as the National Installations Manager, I was responsible for leading the Installation Support functions (Installation Support and Small Works departments) and the National field based Contract Management team and Installation teams. My Current role is Head of Commercial Development, I have an active role in the identification and growth of existing and new business opportunities, retention of existing business, exploring new avenues of activity, and seeking opportunities that the company can develop in its bid to grow, working with the Account Management and Business Development teams as well as taking a broader strategic role and understanding the changing marketplace. I retain the responsibility for leading the Systems Design Team (Estimating ). I am also a committee member (BSI) helping develop standards that have a social alarm element within them, completing BS8604-1 for the design, installation and commissioning of hard wired social alarm systems within sheltered housing. I also have an active role as an elected council member for the Fire Industry Association (FIA).
