As the Operations Manager of the Vial Value Stream at MSD, I am responsible for overseeing operations, prioritizing safety, and driving continuous improvement within the value stream. My responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures, managing schedules and resources, and developing plans to meet business objectives. I am responsible for training and developing team members, writing operational procedures, and promoting a culture of safety. I actively participate in inspections and provide immediate feedback to reinforce good behaviours. Recognizing and celebrating contributions and safety achievements are also important aspects of my role. Creating a team environment that prioritizes safety and continuous improvement is crucial. As a member of the site emergency response team, I may act as the Incident Commander in the event of an accident. Engaging with teams through regular meetings and coaching fosters a continuous learning environment. I assess and develop team members' performance, align goals, and drive a culture of respect and dignity. I support the development and update of the value stream map and site capacity evaluations. Utilizing continuous improvement tools and methodologies, I identify improvement opportunities. Managing budget control and driving cost consciousness are important for resource utilization. Undertaking job-specific activities, driving safety behaviours, and supporting process changes are vital responsibilities. A high-performance organizational culture, lean principles, and benchmarking contribute to success. My role includes safety, environmental, and quality audits, risk assessments, and addressing deviations. Taking ownership of training and professional development is essential. I mentor new team members, support projects, and optimize facility operations. By following lean principles and focusing on continuous improvement, I contribute to the value stream's success.
