About Glenn Mersky

Aspiring Computational Neuroscientist that is excited to push the boundaries for what Computational Neuroscience can do for humanity. Actively working on my Master's in Computational Biomedicine and Biotechnology to further me along the path of becoming a Computational Neuroscientist. In the past I have collaborated with other researchers at the University of Pittsburgh Drug Discovery Institute in developing a combined experimental and computational methodology for streamlining the discovery of combination therapeutics. I worked on developing novel chemogenomics approaches to uncover pathways that synergistically modulate cell behavior in Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease and traumatic brain injury. Currently I am collaborating with other researchers at the University of Pittsburgh Neuroscience department and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center to develop frog and mouse MCell models of neuromuscular junction and synaptic vesicle release mechanism. Specifically I work with stochastic computational modeling using MCell to model and evaluate a novel treatment for Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome (LEMS), a neuromuscular disease that is characterized by motor nerve terminal weakness.
