About Glenn Secrest

Objective: Work with a diverse Team of Engineers developing elegant and efficient solutions by capitalizing on the intangibles of the team and moving in a positive direction through each phase of the project. I am the Hardware Engineering Team Lead for the Radar Operations Center (Since 2019). My group is approximately ten (10) strong. We focus on obsolescence and keeping the WSR-88D (NEXRAD) turning for next 20 years. We support all 159 operational WSR-88D radars located throughout the world. We also perform analysis on potential physical blockage issues and RF Interference and how they may potentially degrade radar data quality. I work Procurements, Configuration Management, Engineering Handbooks, RF Safety Issues, and any thing else needed to support the program. I also provide guidance to my team members and others within the program on our Project and Configuration Management methodologies to ensure they understand how to keep projects moving forward with minimal paperwork based delays. Over the last twenty years, among other things, I have worked the following: I routinely work with procurement personnel providing guidance on sparing levels and evaluating procurements ensuring the items identified meet operational and environmental specifications. These efforts range from reviewing items supported by DLA to talking directly with commercial vendors on lead times, repair, first article testing, and possible lifetime buys. I work directly with our repair technicians on depot level repair actions on all parts needed to support the WSR-88D. From identifying shortfalls in repair methodologies to connecting repair technicians to the cognizant hardware engineer in my area to facility forward progress in maintaining the supply chain. I
