Throughout my career, there has been a theme of support. Things like mental health and substance abuse, along with the stigma associated with both, prevent a lot of people from getting help that they and their families need. In the workplace, if an employee doesn't feel supported, they won't bring up issues they are facing and may end up leaving a company. My belief in providing support to whoever needs it has led me to pursue a career in either Social Work or Human Resources & Personnel Management. Only when a person feels supported, treated with respect, and not judged for their past or present can they truly thrive. Using my experiences in the military and in a clinical setting, I want to be that person to provide selfless service to support the individuals in our community.
