Specialties: EMERGING MARKET PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT Godwin graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science, having majored in Statistics and Economics. He started his investment career at Genbel as a trainee investment analyst in 1994, and subsequently worked as a product manager for Nedbank. In 1997 Godwin joined Old Mutual Asset Managers (OMAM) as an equity analyst focusing on consumer shares, industrial shares and small companies. At OMAM he also held portfolio management responsibility for a number of large third party funds in South Africa. Godwin also held the investment responsibility for all third party and life company funds of Old Mutual in Namibia for five years. He also managed the following SA unit trust: Old Mutual Top Companies Fund, Old Mutual Namibian Growth Fund and Community Growth Fund. When OMAM restructured into the Old Mutual Investment Group ("OMIGSA"), a multi-boutique investment business, Godwin founded an investment boutique called OMIGSA Long Term Equity ("LTE"). Over the next 5 years, LTE under Godwin founded, launched and listed two Pan-Africa unit trust funds (i.e. Old Mutual Pan Africa Fund and Old Mutual African Frontiers Fund) in Dublin. These funds invest in listed assets across the African continent. After spending 15 years at Old Mutual as an investment professional, Godwin left OMIGSA in 2012 to form LEGACY AFRICA. At LEGACY AFRICA Godwin's specific responsibilities, as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, include chairing the executive committee, leading portfolio management and driving corporare strategy.
