About Gordon Blake

A motivated, flexible, capable and responsible person who served 20 years with the British Police Service providing him with excellent practical experience in crime prevention, investigation and decision making, coupled with critical incident management and leadership. This experience has helped prepare him to pass on valuable Policing knowledge to the student officers he has responsibility for. He is the University of South Wales’ course leader for Devon & Cornwall Police Student Officer Training Programme; the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship and the Degree Holder Entry Programme. He leads a team designing, writing and delivering university level Police training, based on the College of Policing curriculum, to people with a variety of life experiences behind them who have made the brave decision to make a difference in their community by joining the Police service. During his Police service he performed numerous roles showing himself to be highly adaptable and capable of working under pressure in a variety of fields. PIP 2 accredited and successfully studied for and passed professional examinations to qualify to the rank of Inspector demonstrating an ability to learn, be self-motivated and organised. He has a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion. An approachable leader with a proven ability to positively influence the people around him. Reliable, trustworthy, hard-working and eager to learn new skills and to further his own learning.
