About Gordon McKercher

After working around Canada and the World on various Mining and Oil and Gas projects for the last 13 years and supporting my wife in a major career change, we decided that it was my turn. I was presented an opportunity to go back to school at SAIT in the Civil Engineering Technology program, and jumped in with both feet. The CVT program at SAIT is top notch, and has opened my eyes to a whole new challenge. Learning about how things go together and the processes used in design and operations have really honed my interest in Construction and made me realize how little I knew about it. Going back to school at 37 was not the easiest decision to make. Especially with a family to support, but it was definitely the right decision for me and for my family. I am working hard to show them that taking the time off from working was the right one, as well to instill a love of learning in my 8-year-old Step-daughter. Now, after 6 years in the industry, I feel that my decision to go back to school was the right one. I love going to work every day, I love learning the intricacies of Quantity Surveying and Estimating and I get up every day looking forward to being able to provide sound advice using my experience and expertise to clients.
