Formerly Chief Operating Officer at Build Nova Scotia (formerly Develop Nova Scotia), a provincial crown corporation that invests in infrastructure, properties and programs that make Nova Scotia an incredible place to live, work, invest and visit. Founder and President of The Uncommon Group which included retail and food services operations: Uncommon Grounds, Rum Runners Rum Cake Factory, Sugah! Confectionery, Lost Cod Clothing Company, Carbonstok & High Seas Taffy & Tees. Created a local co-operative marketing and promotional platform for independent retailers and restaurants in Downtown Halifax, I Love Local HFX. In 2017, was recognized for Excellence in Community Based Retailing by Saint Mary’s University at their inaugural Canadian Retailing Awards. 2002-2003 worked for Geosam Investments as Vice President of Investments and was responsible for the investment portfolio which included a number of publicly traded and private equity investments. From 1998 to 2002, was Vice President with Goldman Sachs in the Cayman Islands and in Princeton, New Jersey and during this time achieved Chartered Financial Analyst designation. From 1993 to 1998, was a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte first in the Halifax office, and later in the Cayman Islands practice where he worked in assurance services to some of the leading investment and insurance companies in the world. An active community volunteer having served on the boards of Taste of Nova Scotia, Tourism Nova Scotia and the Downtown Halifax Business Commission. Gordon also previously chaired the Arthritis Society of Nova Scotia and sat on the National Board of the Arthritis Society of Canada. From 2013 to 2015 Gordon served on the Capital Campaign for Halifax’s Central Library and Chaired the Community Campaign for the new library.
