About Gordon Tan

Mr Gordon Tan currently serves as Divisional Director for China Group at International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, helping Singapore-based companies to GO GLOBAL.Gordon currently oversees commercial project development in Chongqing Connectivity Initiative (CCI) Office, the project office of Singapore's 3rd Government-to-Government project in China after Suzhou Industry Park and Tianjin Eco-City developments. CCI develops cross-border economic enablers in Finance, Aviation, Transport-logistics and ICT between Singapore and China through Chongqing. Prior to this, Gordon concurrently oversees the China Planning & Development and North China divisions in China Group. In both roles, he leads the divisions to analyse pan-China trend & policies and work with Chinese government officials, business networks and think-tanks so as to provide insights to aid Singapore companies’ expansion into China. He is also responsible for developing and implementing strategies and policies to facilitate the internationalisation plans of Singapore-based companies into North China. In this role, Gordon also works with Chinese Enterprises (including State-owned enterprises) to ‘go global’ through Singapore, leveraging on Singapore’s eco-system of trade, tax and regional trade agreements. Gordon also served in Guangzhou, China for three years and helped to facilitate entry of Singapore companies into South China. He also had a stint as a Senior Manager in the Lifestyle and Business Services Group, overseeing the overseas development of Singapore’s food sector. Before joining IE Singapore, Gordon was an engineer in Hewlett-Packard (2001-2002) and DSO National laboratories (2003-2005). He also served as a Regional Business Development Manager (2005-2007) in the electronics industry.Gordon holds a Bachelor (Honours) Degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering as well as a Graduate Diploma in Infocommunications Technology from the Nanyang Technological University.
