Background
About Gota Seto
I am a climate change consultant aiming to make a meaningful and significant contribution to achieving the Paris Agreement objective through my work. Specifically, I am focusing on the Asia-Pacific region with a solid aspiration to achieve sustainable development and just transition in this fast-growing region. With nearly 4-year working experience in the financial sector and a Master's degree in International Relations (IR), I would like to utilize my financial knowledge, expertise in IR/climate change/international politics, and interpersonal/analytical/research skills for my consulting work.My career and academic background is the following: Prior to my current job, I worked for a Japanese regional bank, Shizuoka Bank Ltd, for three years and nine months. I was primarily doing corporate banking, in charge of 40-70 companies, including small- and medium-sized enterprises and global firms. Through this working experience, I acquired a number of skills, such as communication skills, relationship building, teamwork, financial analysis, and banking. Thus, I would be delighted to utilize these interpersonal and financially-related skills.I did a Master of International Relations (MIR) at the University of Melbourne, with prior strong interests in global affairs, climate change, and environmental problems. During my master's study, I undertook various subjects, including international politics, climate change, and international migration, through which I gained a deep understanding and extensive knowledge of global affairs (particularly in the Asia-Pacific region) and social/environmental problems. As a result, my interests in climate change issues, sustainable development, and the Asia-Pacific region grew considerably while acquiring essential skills, such as logical, analytical, and critical thinking, research skills, and intercultural communication. Making this expertise and skills the foundation of my career development, I would like to aspire to an exciting professional career.
