About Grace Cheney

I am a Masters-level art therapy student at Lewis & Clark College, graduating in June 2025. My clinical experience includes providing trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care to children, adolescents, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Utilizing art therapy techniques, I support clients navigating emotional distress, disability, medical challenges, and life transitions. In my internship at Randall Children’s Hospital, I provided individual and group therapy focused on emotional expression, resilience-building, and client-led meaning-making. I collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and to advocate for creative, inclusive approaches to mental health support. I have also contributed to research on disability advocacy and accessibility in art therapy. My collaborative thesis project is guided by values of equity, collaboration, and cultural responsiveness. I am especially interested in expanding access to creative mental health care in diverse community and clinical settings. I’m currently seeking post-graduate opportunities where I can integrate art-based and relational approaches to support clients across the lifespan.
