About Grace Elias

Grace is a student at Boston University enrolled in a combined BA/MS program in computer science with a minor in mechanical engineering. At Boston University, Grace has become proficient in coding languages including Java, Python, and C, and has also taken a variety of classes focusing on the logic behind programming. As she has gotten deeper into software development, she has also acquired knowledge of languages including Javascript, Typescript, C#, and Kotlin. She has supplemented her computer science knowledge with classes in mechanics, computer-aided design, and robotics, as she works towards completing her minor. Grace plans to use her integrated knowledge of computer science and mechanical engineering to write software for the robotics industry. Grace has completed two internships with Epic as a software developer. In her first summer, she worked to expand functionality of scheduling tools used by home health and hospice companies internationally. In doing so, she used React framework and improved her skills in languages including C#, Typescript, and Javascript. In her second summer, Grace expanded her skillset to include Swift as well as SwiftUI and UIKit as she worked to add features to a mobile app used by anesthesiologists to monitor events occurring on the hospital floor and in the operating rooms. During both internships, Grace had the chance to receive feedback from other employees at Epic in addition to users of the software she was working on. She also communicated regularly with a mentor and TL and set and maintained deadlines to keep her on track for the summer. At Boston University, outside of her classes, Grace dedicates a lot of her time to her chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, an honor society for the computing and information disciplines. Here she works as the society's director of recruitment and is committed to bringing new members into the club and ensuring they meet the standards upheld by the group.
