About Grace Emely

Architect and Urban Planner with a deep commitment to sustainable heritage management and urban development. My career began in architecture, focusing on design and site development across Malaysia and Indonesia. Driven by a passion for heritage preservation and sustainable urban practices, I transitioned to the Netherlands to pursue a Master’s in Urban Management and Development at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where I specialized in integrating social and economic sustainability into urban planning. My academic and professional journey includes an analysis of the Borobudur Temple Compound’s impact on local economic development, revealing how heritage sites can drive sustainable growth. Additionally, I collaborated with the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands to develop a vision for the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sawahlunto, Indonesia, advocating for a balanced approach to cultural preservation and community well-being. Currently, as a Project Specialist, I apply my coordination and project management skills in a different sector, while remaining engaged with heritage preservation through freelance work and volunteer efforts. My goal is to leverage my multidisciplinary background to create resilient urban environments that honor cultural heritage and promote sustainable development.
