I am a motivated and hardworking student who is passionate about sustainability development and environmental justice. I've pursued these interests through many paths including:• Securing internship opportunities that emphasize sustainability and equity with the National Geographic Society and the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program• Applying to work at organizations that empower their local community, such as Change Narrative LLC and the Danny Woo Community Garden• Studying abroad in Copenhagen to learn more about sustainable environmental and economic policies• Strengthening my commitment to civic engagement by working with a team to lead Macalester’s student community service program, Lives of Commitment• Promoting affordable and accessible education through my role with KidWind, an organization committed to increasing students' exposure to STEM education, and through my role teaching English at the Hmong American Partnership and Literacy Minnesota, educational organizations that support adult immigrants in Minneapolis-St. Paul• Tutoring through the Macalester Academic Excellence free tutoring center to increase academic equity at my college• Serving on the board of my college's Asian-American student club to promote cultural awareness and engagementThese pursuits have taught me key skills, including teamwork, leadership, organization, time-management, and problem solving. Even more importantly, they have taught me how to commit to working for something I believe in and how to persevere when faced with tough challenges.
