About Grace Hunt

If you asked 5 year old me what I want to be when I grow up, my answer was,'a teacher'. If you asked 10 year old me what I want to be in the future, my answer was,'a teacher'. If you asked 15 year old me what I want to be in the future, my answer was,'a teacher'. After having completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in French, I went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary) and received my provisional registration with the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. In my year completing my Grad Dip, I was lucky enough to complete 4 practicums throughout the year in 3 different Auckland Primary schools. My dream of being a teacher had become a reality. I was very fortunate to be coming into the teaching profession at the end of 2018 - start of 2019 because there were lots of jobs available and I was able to really think about what schools my personality and values would align with. There was one scenario which I hadn't really thought about but sat in the back of my mind. The scenario being, what if I went into teaching and I found it wasn't for me? I didn't have a plan B. My mind was set on teaching. Luckily, my first position as a registered teacher in New Zealand was a great one. I landed a job in a year 2 class at ACG Parnell College in Auckland, New Zealand. I taught there for 3 years, the first 2 years being my beginning teacher years. I gained my full practising certificate from the Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand with the help, support and advice of my mentor teacher, colleagues and Principal at ACG. In January of 2022, I moved to Sydney where I am continuing my teaching journey working with ANZUK as a casual teacher. I am very keen now to start looking at longer term options and if the right school was to come up, I would jump at the opportunity to move into a permanent position.
