About Grace Karim

I had never been interested in teaching until I volunteered in my sons' school in 2012 which led me to obtain my PGCEI from Nottingham University and then completed my master's degree(MEd) from the University of Dundee. Meanwhile and after encountering the struggle the students are facing in learning the Arabic language, I wrote my first book to teach the alphabet to speakers of other languages in November 2019. It caters for children and adults and is followed by a workbook. Furthermore, in my research, I found out that students would learn efficiently through stories so I started a series of stories to teach Arabic grammar. 3 stories are already been published and working on more. In parallel, my partner Somia and I participated in startup Sharjah in also November 2019 and we won the 3rd prize which was concluded with the innovation of @bookendsae in January 2020. Considering that everybody is moving away from reading and the fact that new books are expensive, Bookends made pre-loved books available for anybody in UAE to reach. An online platform for buying and selling pre-owned books while delivering and picking up from all the 7 Emirates. More than 16k books in 13 different languages are currently available and all at the Glad to have found an entity where reading is made cheaper and accessible while contributing towards saving our environment by encouraging reuse. our customers are individuals as well as school libraries. Thrilled to have ventured into books as it increased my passion for reading and teaching. Doing tasks with passion can lead to being always happy and positive. That is my status every day.
