About Grace Lockrobin

As Director of Philosophy and Education for SAPERE (soon to be Thoughtful) I co-lead a national education charity and am responsible for SAPERE’s philosophy-related strategy, advocacy, training, content, community, external relationships and quality assurance. I'm also the Founder and Managing Director of Thinking Space, a social enterprise that creates interesting and inclusive spaces for people of all ages to think philosophically together. I am a frequent collaborator with prominent philosophical, educational, cultural and charitable organisations in the UK and internationally. Among my many affiliations, I am a member of the Board for SOPHIA, the European Network for Doing Philosophy with Children. Previously, I have worked for over a decade as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Leeds where I ran ‘Leeds Philosophy Exchange’ - a project that brought together philosophy students, teachers and children in weekly philosophical enquiry. I was also involved in establishing its sister projects at the Universities of Bristol and Oxford. I recently submitted my PhD in Philosophy of Education at UCL where I have been working on enquiry, ethics, aesthetics and education. In academia, I have taught widely in moral philosophy, philosophy of art, political philosophy and feminist philosophy. I have also taught interdisciplinary ethics of medicine, dentistry, bioscience, business, engineering, media, art and sport. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I live in Sheffield with my husband and two beautiful children.
