About Grace Nagel

I am a project management professional with 7 years of experience in local and global development, non-profit management and administration, and program monitoring and evaluation. I enjoy training people to be effective leaders and change agents in their communities and workplaces. I dream of making a difference in my local, national, and global communities. In my current role as the Director of The Basics Chattahoochee Valley, I provide information to parents, caregivers, and service providers in our community about simple ways to enhance young children's social, emotional, and cognitive development to give them a great start in life. Previously, I worked as a Case Manager in the Muscogee County Adult Drug Court, where I liaised between substance abuse treatment providers and law enforcement to monitor the progress of over 125 participants. I served as a Monitoring and Evaluation Associate in Peace Corps Senegal, where I had previously worked in community economic development with a focus on youth and female entrepreneurship training and development. I earned a MS in International Affairs from Georgia Tech and a BA in Arabic Language from Georgetown University. I bring a variety of experiences and a passion for working in under-served populations. Previously, I worked with a non-profit behavioral health organization where I outreached to homeless individuals with mental illness and advocated for affordable housing, medical intervention, and mainstream benefits. In addition, I have worked as a graduate assistant and social media coordinator, interned at The Carter Center working on peace efforts between Sudan and South Sudan, and mentored Somali and Central African refugees in Maine on getting their first jobs in the United States.
