Background
About Grace Sievert
Since I started college, although at first there were points when I was not sure of my specific career path, I knew I wanted to work in cognitive development and research. I have successfully sought out and secured internships and new opportunities focusing on psychology and children throughout my college career. As a result, I discovered the right career for me, that of an Occupational Therapist. Now, I am a few months from graduating with my baccalaureate degree in psychology and am preparing to take time off to work before eventually attending graduate school to pursue a degree in occupational therapy. During this hiatus from school I’d like to continue pursuing work in my field to deepen my knowledge and support my future career so I can give the best therapy possible. When I began my academic career at the University of Montana, I immediately applied for and was accepted into the Global Leadership Initiative (GLI), a leadership program with a focus on global problems. Through my association with the GLI, I was able to pinpoint my passions while working on my senior capstone project. My collaborators and I identified a widespread critical need for mental and physical health resources for children, and went above and beyond in our project by creating a web database for Montana parents, children, and teachers, along with a full summer program for our local Boys and Girls club.I have attained three internships in the occupational therapy field over the past two years while working and attending college as a full time student. One was located at the biggest hospital in Missoula, St. Patrick's Providence, another was with a MGMA Better Performer award-winning practice, Missoula Bone and Joint, and the last was at Moving Mountains Therapy, one of the only pediatric occupational therapy outpatient centers in Missoula. Through these valuable experiences, I have gained a greater understanding of care taking, specifically in cognitive development. Now in my last year of my undergraduate work, I have begun working with The Minds Lab, a research group studying the nature of intentions and culpability in children. From all these experiences I have become more creative, disciplined, and hardworking. I am ready to take my skills into a professional environment and share what I have to offer.
