About Grace Wiley

My name is Grace Wiley. I graduated the Fish and Wildlife Technology program at Fleming College, and received my honors BSC in Joint Biology/Environmental Science. Although I have a keen knowledge for all of Ontario's flora and fauna, I have specialized in herpetology, having the opportunity to learn under mentors in the field - conducting field research for species at risk turtles and snakes. As the Head of Field Research for the Turtle Guardians program (The Land Between Charity) I gained experience in managing and organizing field research in partnership with the START program (Scales Nature Park). I have always had a passion for educating and working with youth, starting with teaching swimming lessons and volunteering as a skating instructor assistant in high school. I love to combine my two passions, nature and working with children - and believe that connecting kids with nature is important not only for the planet, but for raising healthy and happy children. As the Head of Education for the Turtle Guardians program, I had the opportunity to create and implement children's programming like day camp, school visits, and tours in house. With the help of live education animals, I taught people of all ages how they can help turtles in their own communities. I also created turtle-based curriculum resources for educators. I am continuing my journey as an educator by attending the ECE program at Fleming College.
