About Grace Winters

Hi everyone! My name is Grace Winters and I just graduated this past May with a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice with minors in Urban Poverty Studies and Women and Gender studies from Saint Louis University. I am back home in Chicago which I am very excited about. During my time at SLU, I participated in screening recently arrested individuals in order to help find better alternatives to incarceration and recommend various program alternatives to their attorneys and even the prosecution. I also helped organize two listening sessions in St. Louis to address the ongoing fentanyl crisis that has devastated so many communities. One of the best experiences I had at SLU was being able to tutor children all four years undergrad through the Sisters of Charity in STL. I learned of ongoing systemic racism, classism, and substance abuse patterns that plague large cities here in the United States. My passion for prison reform and proper defense for all arrested individuals continues to push me to educate myself, and I am extremely excited to begin working for Cabrini Green Legal aid as a new paralegal!
