About Grace Yao

I’m a front-end developer who came to tech by way of the nonprofit world where I spent 6+ years supporting individuals as they built skills, navigated career transitions, and advocated for themselves in systems that often weren’t designed with them in mind. That experience still shapes the way I code: with a strong eye toward accessibility, clarity, and real-world impact. These days, I build responsive, design-forward websites using frameworks like React and Svelte, and integrate with headless CMS platforms like Contentful, Sanity, and Storyblok. I’ve worked on everything from nonprofit campaign sites and e-commerce sites for local brands, to media and production companies behind award-winning films, celebrity shoots, and global ad campaigns. I’m currently contracting with Netflix (via East of Western), contributing front-end development using React.Alongside client work, I also take on freelance projects, offer website audits, and help artists and small businesses troubleshoot performance and SEO challenges. I love translating design into code and building sites that are as thoughtfully crafted behind the scenes as they are on the surface. Lately, I’ve been diving deeper into Astro and tinkering GSAP to make cool little animations. github.com/gyao1487 if you want to see what I’ve been up to.Let’s connect! I’m always open to cool projects, freelance work, or just chatting about creative, community-centered tech.
